Heroic Freedom Fighter Martyr Captain Sheikh Kamal's 72nd Birth Anniversary Celebrated

On August 5, 2021, the 72nd birth anniversary of Captain Sheikh Kamal, the eldest son of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the best Bengali nation of the millennium, was celebrated with due dignity in Bogra district. At 9.00 am, a wreath was laid at the temporary portrait of Sheikh Kamal at Battala on the initiative of the district administration. In line with the government program, the Department of Youth Development, Bogra District organizes tree sapling distribution and tree planting programs. The district administration, Bogra provided overall cooperation. Mr. Md. Ziaul Haque, Deputy Commissioner, Bogra was present as the Chief Guest at the inaugural function. Mr. Md. Tochhaddek Hossain, Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development presided over the function. Also present on the occasion were Additional Deputy Commissioner (Overall) Mr. Masum Ali Beg, District Sports Officer Mr. Md. Masud Rana, Awami League Bogra District Publicity Secretary and District Council Panel Mayor Mr. Sultan Mahmud Khan Rony, officials of various levels of Youth Development Department, members of youth organizations. Other dignitaries. The Deputy Director, Department of Youth Development referred to August as the month of mourning and prayed for the souls of those who were martyred on August 15, 1975. He said the nation will always remember with gratitude the contribution made by the martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal in the field of culture and sports. The Deputy Commissioner presented a colorful biography of the martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal. He said Sheikh Kamal was a prominent sports organizer and cultural activist. He has established Abahani Club. He has contributed a lot to the stadium. He directly participated in the great liberation war. After independence, various propaganda was carried out in his name. But if he were alive today, many qualitative changes would have taken place in the culture, sports and politics of our Bangladesh. He called upon the youth to learn from the life of martyred Captain Sheikh Kamal and cherish his spirit. He emphasized the importance of planting trees, saying that these trees give us oxygen which saves us lives. We all have to plant trees, take care of the trees so that one by one the trees grow as a factory of oxygen. The chief guest distributed one Arjuna tree and one mango sapling among the members of the youth organization. He then planted saplings of white, British gab and banana mango trees in the district administration premises. Officials of the district administration and youth development department were present at the time. Later, the Deputy Director planted tree saplings on the campus of Youth Development Department, Bogra.
